Christina Velentza is a Refugee Law Professional, Policy Advisor and an Attorney at Law with the Athens Bar Association. She is a Researcher on International Migration, Refugee Policy and Human Rights. Christina has completed her PhD in International Refugee Law and Human Rights, 1951 Refugee Convention and protection policies in Greece and Turkey after the Syrian refugee crisis (Democritus University of Thrace, Greek State Foundation Scholar), holds her MA in European Studies (Law) from the University of Strasbourg and her BA in Law from the Democritus University of Greece. She is a Research Affiliate with the Refugee Law Initiative, University of London and a Chatham House Member. She lived and worked in different countries (France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Romania, UK, Jordan, The Gambia). She was born and raised in Athens, Greece and is a graduate of 30th High School of Kypseli, Athens. The last couple of years, Christina is based in Istanbul, Turkey. Christina is currently an IPC-Mercator Fellow (Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Initiative) in Istanbul. She is a world citizen, vegan and an animal lover. Her hobbies are photography, yoga and traveling.
